Adventurous couple, Kenzie and Travis, who got married in July, hosted one of our most recent wedding sessions we had the pleasure to be a part of. These two met at work, where their relationship started as a really great friendship. They have a fun engagement story that Kenzie shared with us. “Travis and I went skiing at Crystal Mountain in Washington over Christmas break for three days.” She went on to tell us how Travis had been waiting for the perfect moment to propose for 6 whole months before he finally did it on the last day of their trip. “It turned out that the perfect moment did not go at all as he had planned, but was even more perfect because of it,” she added. After a frustrating day of skiing and traveling, Travis finally popped the question overlooking a beautiful river and waterfall.
Kenzie and Travis chose the Chez Hay Catering Co. for their wedding for a wide range of reasons. Their wedding was focused on a rustic, yet elegant theme that fit perfectly with the urban atmosphere of the Chez Hay! Kenzie told us more about what rounded out their special day for them, “We are including tasteful touches that tied our theme to our goal, like using our mothers’ china… It is really important to Travis and I that we are able to celebrate this special time with our closest family and friends, but it is also important for us to be able to have a first-look moment to ourselves.” The day turned out beautiful and we got some amazing shots of the whole day. Congratulations, Kenzie and Travis! Here’s to a long, happy marriage!
First off, this blog’s featured couple, Amber and Matt Bremer, have an engagement story worth sharing: “I had been begging Matt to go to Paint Yourself Silly to put his creative skills to the test.” Amber described. “The employee grabbed a stack of plates so we could get some ideas. The first few were decorated in Christmas theme, then the last one she showed us was a plate that had “Will you marry me?” painted on it.” How sweet!
The end of May brought a beautiful wedding for this fun-loving couple. The wedding took place at the picturesque, and historic, Westminster Presbyterian Church. This Church is full of rich character, and was even where Amber’s parents were married! Embassy Suites in Lincoln provided a full-of-life setting for their reception and perfectly complimented the couples’ Old Hollywood/vintage theme they were aiming for. The styling, decorations, and the couple’s contagious smiles made the entire day unforgettable.
Amber and Matt wanted to embrace every minute of the day, despite a few setbacks. Even though it was rainy, we worked with it and ended up with some really amazing shots. Trying something a little bit outside of the box is really what made this wedding special, not only for Amber and Matt, but for us as well.
I recently photographed Stacey and Ryan, an engaged couple in Omaha. Both of them went to school in Lincoln and now live in Cedar Falls, Iowa. I met them at a bridal show and I knew they would be an awesome couple to shoot. They were both a blast to work with and had a lot of creative ideas. I am more than excited for this couple that is set to say “I do” in April.
From time to time, I enjoy a break from my usual location shoots in Lincoln. Recently I was able to photograph an engagement session in downtown Elkhorn NE. We were able to fit in some amazing pictures an hour before Mary Lou’s bridal shower. Not only were we on a schedule but a big storm was on its way and we just narrowly escaped a literal shower. I made sure to get some images for Grandma but in the end I wanted to capture Mary Lou and Bronson’s fun & loving spirit.
Here is a sneak peek of Stacy & Josh from their engagement photo session. Stacy and Josh were energetic and a lot of fun which made shooting their engagement pictures almost effortless. I’m looking forward to photographing your wedding in Columbus, Nebraska in March!
Just a few weeks ago I photographed Katie and Brennen’s engagement session. Brennen’s sister was in town for a soccer game so I had the chance to meet his family during the session. Turns out Brennen and his father both have a passion for photography. Below is a sneak peak of the session. Can’t wait to photograph your wedding, Katie and Brennen!
I’ll let everybody in on a little secret about me: I’ve been a huge Detroit Lions fan since the days of Barry Sanders. That’s why I had so much fun shooting Kylie and Jeff’s engagement session. They, too, are big fans so we got some images with them in their Lions gear and Husker shirts. Kylie and Jeff also own a photo booth business in Kansas City so I asked them to give me some typical poses from their photo booth sessions.
Brittany & Mark took me to Holland, Nebraska to photograph their engagement session. If I could boast a bit, we got some cool images. Mark brought an old Schwinn bike, which started the session off right. We also used two old trucks to complete the vintage look. Bringing distinctive props helps create one of a kind pictures. Stay tuned for more unique sessions.
